A music teacher who spent twelve years building clinical software

BC Consulting does three things: it trains teams to build with AI themselves, it develops the AI applications those teams cannot buy off a shelf, and it helps leadership turn scattered experiments into a governed operating model. We work in two fields where a wrong answer has real consequences: clinical research and K-12 education.

The founder

Bryan Clayton, M.S., founded and runs the firm. He started as a music teacher: a B.S. in Music Education from West Chester University (magna cum laude, 2002), then nine years teaching band, music theory, and audio engineering at the high school level, first at Washington Township High School in Sewell, New Jersey, then as Director of Bands for the North Penn School District in Pennsylvania. He earned a Master of Science in Music Technology from Indiana University along the way and holds teaching certificates in both states.

In 2011 he moved into clinical trial software and spent the next twelve years on the vendor side of IRT and RTSM systems and the wider eClinical stack: running the project teams that delivered studies for major pharma, supporting regulatory inspections and audits, defending bids, and rising to Senior Vice President at YPrime and Chief Commercial Officer at Endpoint Clinical. He founded BC Consulting in 2022.

He still coaches. He has been an assistant baseball coach at North Penn High School since 2016, which is a more useful credential for this work than it sounds. Coaching and teaching are the same problem as AI training: a room of people with mixed skill and mixed interest, and a fixed amount of time to get every one of them doing the thing rather than watching it.

The standard we hold ourselves to

Everything we recommend, we run on first. This site is built and maintained with the same AI workflows we train client teams on. Our learning platform at lms.bcconsulting.io is a production system we designed, built, and operate that way. The research, outreach, and reporting agents behind our own pipeline run under the same written rules we hand to clients about what an agent may do alone and what needs a person to approve. When we say a team can build its own tools in a day, it is because we have watched it happen in a client’s conference room and because our own business depends on it.

How we work

We are small on purpose. Engagements are led by the founder, scoped to a defined deliverable, and priced so the answer to “do we need this” can honestly be no. Training is hands-on by design: nobody leaves with only a slide deck. Development ends with you owning the code, the prompts, and the run guides. Implementation ends with a policy your quality group or your school board can read, and numbers you can report.
